Dr Mariana Atkins

Research Assistant Professor, Centre for Social Impact UWA

Dr Mariana Atkins is a Research Assistant Professor at the Centre for Social Impact, UWA with a background in geography and planning.

She is currently evaluating two DSS Try, Test and Learn programs addressing barriers to employment: one, Mentoring2Work, focuses on youth unemployment; and the other, Multicultural Enterprise Development Project, focuses on employment support for refugees, humanitarian entrants and migrants from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds.

Mariana has a research interest in the geography of ageing and the challenges of ageing-in-place within sprawling, low-density, car-dependent cities.

She has a PhD. in Geography and Planning from UWA, a Master’s degree in Social Policy and Planning from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from University College London.

Mariana is a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society.
